The Modern Prophet

Revised 10-29-2009

I am a son of man, but I don’t consider myself a prophet, and I am certainly not "holier than thou." In fact, I'm only too human, and I would say I'm a prodigal son of man.

Nevertheless, I do understand real prophecies (as distinguished from symbolic ones), and I have insight into scriptural truths that have heretofore been misunderstood, misinterpreted, or ignored. And, because I do show you things to come and foresee and foretell how the meek shall inherit the earth, some would call me a prophet.

Unfortunately, the nature of prophets is misunderstood, and my role has been grossly misunderstood, so I should speak of what I am, and what I am to do.

The following is generally true with any prophet who tries to explain the truth and show people what the future holds. However, this is regarding the modern prophet, and it is put in terms that should be most recognizable to people influenced by Judeo-Christian traditions.

The prophet is from your midst, and of your brethren.

The prophet is not recognized or honored as such in his own family, nor in his own house. In fact, his family thinks he has become "beside himself."

The prophet is at odds even with himself, because he knows he cannot follow some of his own advice to others — like judge not, and love even your enemies.

The prophet must denounce the egotism of those who are self-important and self-righteous, who are as the blind leading the blind, and yet he must learn to allow himself to accept the mentality which may seem to others as the extreme height of egotism.

The prophet must expose and rebuke greedy misers, hypocrites, and those who lust after and fight for worldly power, wealth and domain, especially if and when they do it in the name of religion.

Even the prophet Jesus of Nazareth said so. That is why Jesus also said that this (following) son of man, this messenger for the Spirit of truth, would issue judgment, guide you unto truth and show you things to come, and would first be rejected by his generation and suffer many things.

But how could it be otherwise?

Those who have known him know the person he has been, and even now is. They know he is very fallible, and certainly not holy.

Nevertheless, the prophet must say I am what I am. For no person is holy, and no person has ever been holy. Even Jesus said we should not call him good, or holy, because only the eternal, omnipresent Great Spirit-Parent in heaven is the Holy One. Even Jesus, in the last moments of his life, said: "My God, why have you forsaken me?" And he echoed the words that King David had written in Psalm 22. For all true servants of God realize they are not God, and they acknowledge that they are only human.

There is no trinity or triune God. God is One, having many aspects, and is known by many names --- including The Creator, Jehovah, Yahweh, Elohim, Brahman, The Supreme Universal Consciousness, Ahura Mazda, The Absolute Tao, Allah, The Great Spirit, Wakan-Tanka, and many other names for the Holy One that is our God in heaven. And the fact is that besides God there is no Savior, as the prophet Isaiah wrote.

Those who do not know this modern prophet, but know his words, dismiss or reject him, and some even despise him. After all, he breaks tradition, refutes many doctrines of men, and dispels myths — all of which are regarded as sacred truth by many people.

He writes under a pen name, Joseph, because it is the message that is important, not the messenger, and it is the truth, and nothing but the truth, that shall set you free.

The thing is, it is not he who does the work. Of himself he can do nothing, but do the will of the One who sent him. He cannot take the credit, nor does he deserve the blame.

In fact, his hope is that these are the last words he will have to write, because he may not be able to write any more. He fervently hopes the message is sufficient in the sight of God, because he is dying of heart failure and he could go any day.

If another miracle happens and his life is prolonged further, he wants to instead focus on being part of the change he wants to see in the world. He wants to simply sing the rest of his songs, God willing.

You see, as a singer, his first name is David. His middle name is after his namesake, Jehoshuah, and his last name is the modern way of saying Son of Nun.

In scriptures, Nun was the minister to Moses and the father of Joshua. In Hebrew, Nun is the 13th letter of the alphabet, symbolized by the fish. It also means fish in Aramaic, Phoenician and Arabic. And, in mythology, Nun is the ethereal waters or ocean from which all life has come. That is the real reason why it is symbolized by the fish.

"Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth." – David=s Psalm 33:3-4

"And, lo, you are unto them as a very lovely song of one that has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear your words, but they do them not. And when this comes to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet has been among them." – Ezekiel 33:32-33

"Don’t let it bring you down. It’s only castles burning. Find someone who’s turning, and you will come around." – Neil Young

"There's battle lines being drawn. Nobody's right if everybody's wrong. Young people speaking their minds, Getting so much resistance from behind. I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound? Everybody look what's goin' down." -- Stephen Stills

"The truth you might be runnin' from is so small. Yet it's as big as the promise -- the promise of a comin' day." -- Stephen Stills
