The Story of "Joseph," A Prodigal Son of Man

(Revised 7-4-2008)

"Joseph" was born in the Far West of the United States, in 1941, when very powerful warlords who ruled Germany and Japan were threatening to conquer and rule the whole world by force of arms.

Despite the wars in the 1940s, '50s and '60s, as a child, youth and young man, Joseph lived what many would call a charmed life. Even though he was born into a family of very modest means, he had what he needed and everything he really wanted.

As a child and youth he suffered from shyness, but he began to gradually overcome it as he became a young man. And, since he was well liked, talented and athletic, he enjoyed a lot of successes and accomplishments, socially. But, as an academic student, he tended to be, as they say, slothful and lazy.

At age 23 he "married up" in 1964, and by 1969 at age 28 he had everything most men dream of. He had a beautiful wife, and, thanks to his wife’s money from her father, he had a nice home, a summer vacation cabin, a boat, and nearly everything else he wanted. By that time he was a senior in college, having finally applied himself sufficiently in his studies, with plans to be a music teacher.

But, he felt that romantic love had let him down (even though he was mostly at fault for that). He was also attracted to the Hippie lifestyle, and he dreamed of greener pastures, not only romantically and sexually, but also in the sense that he wanted to live more simply and more close to nature. So, he foolishly threw everything away to pursue his dreams.

In 1971, when Joseph was thirty years old, he was carried away in spirit to that high and holy place where God inhabits eternity. He had fortuitously realized the nature of divine, universal love, and that had triggered a series of greater revelations that culminated in his being drawn up in spirit, through the tunnel and into the Light of God.

It was a time when the seeds of the coming New Reformation were planted, when a good many young Americans were learning about the universal truths that are at the core of every religion. So, during the first few years following Joseph's spiritual rebirth, he started studying the spiritual and religious works of man to try to comprehend what had happened to him. He knew that he had witnessed God, and he knew that he had even become one with God for a few moments that seemed like eternity. But, when he returned to his body and came back down to earth, he realized that what he had absorbed emotionally and spiritually was far too overwhelming to grasp intellectually. That is why he set out on a path of learning.

The more he grew in his knowledge of religions, religious traditions and esoteric spiritual teachings, the more he came to think that he could not learn very much about God from them. He felt that all he could learn from men was what they thought of God, and he already knew what God is. He also knew that most people who claim to know God and have God on their lips, do not know God at all. But, he didn't realize he needed guidance and discipline. He thought he was totally free and continually blessed, but in the spiritual reality he became foolish and unwittingly covetous and wilful in the sight of God, God's angels, and the Ancient One who was before Abraham and is the Oversoul of all.

In 1974, at age 33, he left his family and friends to try to manifest his fantasies about living as totally free, natural and close to God as possible. However, his journey ended in sickness, and while he was delirious he was given a vision. He wouldn't know what it meant until many years later, but he did feel he should go home. So, he did that, and when he returned to his home town he just drifted, living in his old VW van. And then he thought he found his true love.

In 1975, four years after he had witnessed God, he began to think that God had called and chosen him to be a great leader. So, at age thirty-four, he briefly tried to become the most powerful leader in the world. But, of course, he failed. He also lost his young lover, because his head was still in the clouds.

He then became a homeless ascetic, and began wandering rather aimlessly on foot. Without realizing it he was searching for what he had already found, but he did learn a lot during his travels. For example, he learned much about people, many different kinds of people. And he learned that the poor, who have the least, are the most willing to share what they have.

Then, in July 1977, two years after he had become homeless by choice, he was stricken and afflicted with a disabling disease and confined to a wheelchair.

Fortunately, he was given a lot of help, and he was able to get a cheap old utility vehicle to travel and live in. He floundered around for awhile, trying this and that to try to fit in somewhere, and then went through a long period of seclusion, meditation and more intense study.

In 1979 Joseph began to learn and understand the prophecies of Isaiah and Jesus, and he began to understand why he was stricken and afflicted. At the same time he was given a clear and unmistakable sign from God. But, as was his bent, it "went to his head" and he thought he was going to be the greatest guru, with many devotees and gopis (women lovers).

Of course, no one saw him as such. They only saw a man who had been stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted, just as the prophet Isaiah foresaw.

A few months later he moved from his home state to a place further North, in the Pacific Northwest, and he went into a kind of exile. Fortunately, a good woman took him in and loved him in spite of himself, and he's been with her ever since. He is very fortunate, in that she is wise, good-hearted, loyal, understanding, and very forgiving.

Still, it took many years for him to fully understand and finally accept the responsibility of his mission, which is to serve God and humanity as the messenger for the Spirit of truth, the "son of man" and the "witness and servant of God," who anonymously delivers judgment, guides you unto truth, shows you things to come, and glorifies the Holy One in heaven -- and does so even though he knew he would be rejected by his generation and suffer many more things.

Indeed, Joseph has had to overcome many things, and he has suffered many more things, the worst and most life-threatening of which are coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure. However, his life has been prolonged by much good medicine, both prescribed and alternative, and also by six surgeries (so far), much modern medical treatment, and a pacemaker/defibrilator.

Joseph’s suffering has tempered his spirit and made him contrite and grateful. In fact, he is very grateful because he has far more than he deserves. Even though he left his first love, and even though he has been a fool, he is now seen as a prodigal son of man by God, who particularly loves and welcomes all those who are humbled and contrite. And all of this was foreseen and foretold by the prophets Isaiah and Jesus.

Joseph has been learning much and developing the message for 27 years now, and in the message, Joseph explains what he has learned from God's Spirit of truth, from men, and especially from women.

In the earlier versions of the message, however, Joseph’s approach was to write the message as if he was a messenger for the actual messenger. He thought that he might not be unique. He often felt that he might not be the messenger, and often feared he was not and couldn’t be, since he found so much fault in himself. But now he has fully admitted it to himself. He acknowledges that he has known it all along, and that countless things have pointed to that fact.

Joseph has had to overcome much in order to fulfill his mission. But the most difficult and biggest barrier he had to overcome was to accept that it was not his ego that was impelling him to deliver the message, and that he was not simply being self-important and self-righteous. He more fully realized how and why he has been and is actually guided by God and the Spirit of truth, and he finally fully realized why Jesus said, "Of myself I do nothing."

Joseph explains why there have been few individuals actually chosen by God, even though many are called. That is because, unfortunately, most who are called by God start off on a spiritual path but they get off track and go astray because they think they are becoming "holier than thou," or they think they are simply above it all and live without caring, with their head in the clouds, as Joseph did before he realized and accepted what his mission is.

At the end of every age God chooses one, even though thousands may have been called, to bring humanity into remembrance of the eternal, universal truths that have been lost or ignored or forgotten or misunderstood.

Some are chosen from the womb. The Christ Jesus was such a chosen one, and Jesus and Isaiah predicted the coming of the next one chosen in the same way, who serves in the name of Israel and Jacob and David and Jehoshuah (the new name of the Christ in heaven), and writes under the pen name of Joseph James Adamson.

You see, we all know the truth deep in our heart of hearts, but the human ego is very practiced and proficient at making us think we are good judges, and more wise than others. Joseph is the one chosen to bring you into remembrance of the truth. He is the one who issues the prophesied judgment, which is particularly appropriate and needed at this time, since false prophets and false shepherds are dividing humanity and leading their blind flocks so far astray.

Only God is the Holy One and Savior, and Joseph's mission is to serve God and explain God's Will and Intent. And he is able to do so only because he realizes the fallibility of man, including himself, and fully acknowledges the infallibility and supremacy of God and the Ancient One in heaven. He is a genuine witness and faithful servant of God.
