About the Last Son of Man/Messiah/Moshiach, and The Current One
(Revised 8-16-2008, 1:00 PM, DPT)
Religious Jews cannot and will not believe in Jesus as a Moshiach (Messiah) because they say Jesus did not fulfill any of the messianic prophecies. I understand why they feel that way, because they have very legitimate and valid reasons, but they are not correct in claiming that the Christ Jesus did not fulfill any Judaic prophecies.
Granted, it is true that the Christ Jesus did not fulfill all the Judaic prophecies that are claimed in the New Testament of the Christian Bible as we know it. But, Jesus did fulfill some of the prophecies, and one of those that he did fulfill was not in the way Jews expected. And, that is also the case with the current son of man, with regard to many Jewish, Christian and Muslim expectations, because their expectations are somewhat misguided.
The point is that Jesus did not fulfill most of the Judaic prophecies, especially the ones that are so important now, about delivering the promised judgment, universally changing and improving the world, establishing peace and worldwide disarmament (turning "swords" into "plowshares"), and fostering universal brotherhood and kinship and understanding of divine will and intent.
That is why Jews still await the coming of their Mashiach/Messiah, and it is why Christians still await the so-called "second coming" of the Christ Jesus. But the truth is that none of them understand real prophecy, or how it is being and will be fulfilled. The person who fulfills Jewish and Christian prophecy is not who or what they think he will be, (see the page titled Prophecies Re: The "One To Come"), and he also fulfills other prophecies of the one to come.
The truth must be understood, because militant religious Jews have dug their heels in and won’t budge, just as many militant religious Christians and Muslims have done. All of them are led by militant religious zealots who think that they are right, and that everyone else is wrong. And that’s a big part of the reason why so many of them are fighting and killing each other.
The thing is, they all have a certain amount of truth on their side, and yet none of them yet realize that they all have been misled by certain man-made doctrines that have divided them, made them ignorant of divine will and intent, and created much conflict and division.
On this page I would like to discuss the main Jewish expectations that so many of them cling to, because I think they do not fully understand the meaning of real prophecies.
First, let’s be clear about what the title of Mashaich or Moshiach or Messiah or Christus or Christ literally means. It’s a title which means the anointed one, and, in the strict meaning of the word in Judaic scriptures, it means that the kings of Israel are to be physically anointed by official clergy with an oil made of specific ingredients. That is why I discussed that on the page titled Plant of Renown, to address that concern.
However, I’ve also discussed, on that page and others, that those who cling to such rigid interpretations and focus on such details fail to understand the full truth of the matter. For the truth is that a truly enlightened witness and servant of God who is chosen as a messenger of God is spiritually anointed by God the Lord of Hosts. Divine authorization and true enlightenment is not inherited or bequeathed by men, or clergy. Men cannot choose or authorize messengers of God. Only God calls, chooses and authorizes the true Messiahs (anointed ones), and the true servant-messengers for God’s Spirit of truth.
Still, in many ways, Jews understand more about the Messiah than Christians do.
For example, Jews understand that the Messiah is NOT the Savior. They understand why Isaiah wrote the following:
Through Isaiah, God speaks of "my servant whom I have chosen, so you may know and believe me, and understand that I am the Holy One. Before me there was no God formed, and neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord God, and beside me there is no Savior." (Isaiah 43:10-11)
The book of Isaiah speaks of witnesses of God, and of a singular "chosen servant" of God, one who is called "son of man."And Isaiah speaks of the "servant Israel" both in a plural sense, meaning the people of Israel, and in a singular sense, meaning the "servant who brings Jacob again" (not Jacob literally, but one who identifies with Jacob), as I will discuss more below.
That is why Jesus himself said the one who now fulfills both the Judaic and Christian prophecies glorifies God the Holy One in heaven, and also glorifies the Christ who is with God in heaven.
Only God is the Holy One and Savior, as Isaiah wrote, and, as Moses wrote, "God is not a mortal or a man, nor a son of man." And those are just two of a huge number of statements in Hebrew scripture that shows that God is the unseen, omnipresent Holy One, and the person who now fulfills prophecy is literally a son of man. He is of your brethren and from your midst, and he is a witness and servant of God the Lord of Hosts, just as the Jewish prophets stated. Furthermore, he is the son of man and messenger for the Spirit of truth who issues judgment, guides you unto truth, shows you things to come, and glorifies God and the Ancient One (aka the Christ) who is with God in heaven, just as the Christ Jesus foretold.
Religious Jews also understand that the Christ Jesus did not fulfill very many Judaic messianic prophecies. As I have explained on the pages titled Prophecies Re: The "One To Come," The Martyrdom of Jesus, The Virgin Birth Story, and The Plant of Renown, if we analyze and look at Judaic scriptures in context and understand what they mean, it is clear that many of the claims made in the New Testament in the Christian Bible about Jesus fulfilling certain prophecies are not accurate or true. But he did fulfill some.
It should be understood that Jesus did fulfill certain Jewish/Judaic prophecies, especially in that he and his father Joseph were born in the line of King David. For Jesus was not born of a "virgin," as I explained on page about The Virgin Birth Story. His father was Joseph, who was born in the line of David. Jesus stood on the "mount of olives." He was also tortured and whipped, received "stripes" and was led "as a lamb to slaughter," as Isaiah put it in one verse in Chapter 53, because Isaiah foresaw both the son of man Jesus, the sacrificial lamb of God, and the next, modern son of man, the "bridegroom" lamb of God who fulfills both Judaic and Christian prophesies of judgment, reconciliation, and peace, which are similar to all other genuine religious prophecies.
The Christian gospel writers were two thousand years premature in claiming that Messiah/Christ Jesus also fulfilled the Judaic prophecy in Zechariah which states: "Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives." (Zechariah 14:3-4)
That is of course why the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all mention Jesus being on the "mount of olives." But, many religious people do not realize that is why the authors of the Christian scriptures wrote that we should "take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God," and "the weapons of the Lord are not carnal [or lethal] but are mighty through God for pulling down strongholds [of misused military power]," and "I will fight them with the sword of my mouth," and "the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
The Christ Jesus knew that the Hebrew Psalm 45 states that God's "tongue is the pen of a ready writer." Jesus also knew that Isaiah 62:11 states: "Behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him." This is why Jesus said: "The writer who is instructed into the kingdom of heaven is like the man who is a householder, and he brings forth out of his treasure things old and new."
That is confirmed also in Psalm 103:20, Daniel 10:6, Daniel 10:9, and other scriptures that refer to the true, divinely inspired written word being the "voice of God's word" and "the sword of my mouth." That is also confirmed in Daniel 2:35 where the great prophet foretells that the "stone" of truth in the written word shall "shatter the image of the King of Babylon and become as a great mountain that shall fill the earth."
All of that speaks not of what the son of man Jesus accomplished then, but of what the work of the current son of man will accomplish.
And Jesus was tortured and whipped, received "stripes" and was led "as a lamb to slaughter," as Isaiah put it in one verse in Chapter 53, because Isaiah foresaw both the son of man Jesus, and the next, modern son of man who fulfills the prophesies of judgment.
As I’ve explained on other pages, most of the other prophecies in Judaic scriptures and particularly in the book of Isaiah were not about the son of man Jesus, but about this current son of man. For I represent and serve the spirit of Abraham, Jesse, Israel, Jacob, David, Solomon and Joseph, and Jehoshuah the Christ in heaven, in whose new name I serve.
But even so, I tell you the names do not matter. Names are what people fight over. It matters not what my name is, or who I am as a mortal person. Even though my blood lines also go back to the ancient ones, the genealogy and the name and the identity of the messenger does not really matter. He is called and chosen by God, and it is the truth he delivers that matters, because it is the truth and nothing but the truth will liberate us, unite us, and empower us all. And the real truth will be self-evident to anyone with an eye to see. We all know it, but we’ve forgotten it because we’ve been misled and divided by the doctrines of men who perhaps meant well, but were in certain instances not divinely inspired.
Still, since religious Jews insist the Messiah absolutely must be descended on his father's side from King David according to Genesis 49:10; Isaiah 11:1; Jeremiah 23:5, 33:17; Ezekiel 34:23-24; II Samuel 7:14; I Chronicles 17:11-14, 22:9-10, 28:4-6, I tell you that the Christ Jesus fulfilled that part of prophecy, as I may also do. But even if that were not the case, I must say that those scriptural passages do not necessarily speak literally of blood lines. Terms like the "sceptre of Judah," "a rod out of the stem of Jesse," and a "righteous branch from David," are not necessarily literal. Those terms speak more of the soul and spirit and mission of the son of man, than of blood lines.
It may help to consider why the prophet Isaiah wrote this: "(God) has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand has he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver has he hid me; And said unto me, You are my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. Then I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God. And now, says the Lord that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, and my God shall be my strength." (Isaiah 49:2-5)
Many religious Jews erroneously think that "Israel" mentioned in that passage is the modern State of Israel, the collective body of Jews. But that’s not true. They have been misled, just as many Christians have. For many religious Christians do not understand that the part about being "hidden" and "working in vain and for nought" is about me, the son of man who fulfills Judeo-Christian prophecy and is rejected by his generation, just as the prophets Isaiah and Jesus prophesied.
In Isaiah 49 the term Israel is used in two ways, as the servant of God, and as the Israeli people who are "not gathered." Israel the servant is the son of man, the same witness and servant of God mentioned in many prophecies, like Isaiah 43:10-11. Furthermore, the name Jacob is used in Isaiah 49 in the context of "bringing Jacob again," and it does not mean Jacob literally, but the son of man who embodies the spirit of Jacob (and Israel, Abraham, David, Jesus, etc.).
When Jews realize the truth, they will see that most of the prophecies are about the current son of man, the witness and servant of God who was first stricken and afflicted, who is well acquainted with grief and sorrow, who sends his work before him but is rejected and thinks that his work has been in vain and for nought. And all that is just as Isaiah foresaw and prophesied.
"Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delights. I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgement to the Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street." (Isaiah 42:1-2)
"For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted." (Isaiah 53:2_4)
"For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him that is of a contrite and humbled spirit; to revive the spirit of the humble (and meek), and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always angry. For the iniquity of his covetousness was I angry, and struck him. I hid me, and was angry, and he went on willfully in the ways of his heart. (But) I have seen his ways, and I will lead him..." (Isaiah 57:15-17)
"Behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him." ... and he "shall be called, Sought out, a city not forsaken." (Isaiah 62:11-12)
Of course, religious Jews point out that one of the central themes of Judaic prophecy is the promise of a future age of universal peace and recognition of God’s will and intent. (Isaiah 2:1-4; Zephaniah 3:9; Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Isaiah 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Micah 4:1-4; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9; and Jeremiah 31:33-34) But in due time they will realize that I am the prophesied witness and servant-messenger of God, and I deliver my work in the message that will ultimately accomplish that. But I not only reject the throne as the Christ Jesus did. I reject being in the public eye, because it is the truth, and nothing but the truth, that shall set us all free and empower us all. For we are all equal joint heirs to God’s new kingdom, where God only shall reign, in Spirit, and no more shall any man or woman be a pretender to the throne.
You see, there is a very good reason Isaiah wrote: "He is my witness and my servant whom I have chosen, so you may know and believe me, and understand that I am the Holy One. Before me there was no God formed, and neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord God, and beside me there is no Savior." (Isaiah 43:10-11)
You see, God’s true witness and servant-messenger will not play God, nor will he seek power over you, or rule you. His mission is to liberate you from all those who want to rule over you, unite all humanity, and empower you all so that you may establish truly fair and democratic government.
Granted, Jeremiah 23:5-6 states: "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, the Lord of our righteousness."
But, like the Christ Jesus, I reject the throne, and this is one of many reasons why:
"In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The Lord of our righteousness. For thus says the Lord: David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel." -- Jeremiah 33:15-17
Notice that no man should or will sit upon the throne of the house of Israel. Jesus did not, and I will not. I will not even speak in public, in the street, or from behind a pulpit or podium. If I am a king, I abdicate my throne so that we all may share it as equal joint heirs to the new kingdom. And I must say that "Judah" will not be saved, nor will Jerusalem dwell safely, until Israelis and Muslims realize their folly and iniquity, make peace, and make amends.
To help with that process, I must also say that religious Jews also need to understand the truth about Christianity and Islam. In fact, what religious Jews (along with religious Christians and religious Muslims) do not understand is that God’s design had to be in accordance with the evolution and development of humanity’s consciousness, and it has unfolded in several steps over a long period of time.
The Christ Jesus fulfilled specific functions. He pointed out that ancient Judaic scriptures were not the strict "word of God," because human beings wrote them, and they were only human. Jesus also pointed out that many religious Jews were ignorant of divine will and intent, as many are today, and as many religious Christians and Muslims also are today. Jesus also expressed great universal wisdom and gave us much good advice. He also issued crucial prophecies about the next son of man and messenger for the Spirit of truth, who would issue judgment, guide you unto truth, and show you things to come. And ironically, Jesus was talking about the same person Isaiah and other prophets were talking about in most instances.
Mohammed or Muhammad also fulfilled specific functions, mainly to bring Arabs into the family of Abrahamic religious with Jews and Christians. Mohammed did not fulfill Judeo-Christian prophecies, but he was a servant of God (or Allah, which is the Arab word for God). After all, Mohammed's Qur'an makes it very clear that Islam does not cancel out the messages of previous prophets, such as Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, David, Solomon, Enoch, and Jesus. In fact, the Qur'an commands Muslims to speak with great courtesy to Jews and Christians, because they "all believe in the same God" (29:46).
You see, the main problem today is that militant religious Jews expect a Moshiach King who will bring victory and worldly power to them. Militant religious Christians expect a Messiah-Christ King who will bring victory and worldly power to them. And militant religious Muslims expect an Imam Mahdi who will do the same. But the fact is that all of them are misguided and have erroneous expectations. They fail to understand divine will and intent.
There is only one person who fulfills all prophecies, and I am he. And I tell you that this is a new day and age, and the days of monarchs and theocracy are over. We are to be free, and equal, and govern ourselves. As the prophets foretold, all the kingdoms and nations shall become as one, but as such they will be a family of equal nations, and the overarching "kingdom" will not be ruled by a mortal king or an immortal superman, but by the Great Spirit within and above us all.
God is with the Ancient One, the Oversoul in heaven, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who is identified with the Moshiach, Christ, Avatar, Buddha, Mahdi, Saoshyant, Sage, etc. But again, God and the Ancient One shall rule IN SPIRIT ONLY, and the governments of our nations shall be governed by executive councils rather than pretenders to the thrones. (See the pages on The New Declaration of Independence and How the Meek Shall Inherit the Earth.)
Now, I must also address the Jewish and Christian expectation that the Mashiach/Messiah will "build the Third Temple" in Jerusalem according to Ezekiel 37:26-28, because that has been a source of trouble, and could cause far worse trouble.
I must say that they misunderstand what Ezekiel meant. It is quite true that Ezekiel expressed God’s will that: "I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore." However, the "sanctuary" or "tabernacle" or "temple" of God is not a literal place. It is "in the midst" of all the people, everywhere. It is very much like the saying that we can all be "pillars of the temple," as the apostle John put it. (See also the page titled The Crusades for Jerusalem, which discusses that, and also discusses what the "Mountain of the Lord" is.
As for the Jewish expectation that the Mashiach will gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel according to Isaiah 43:5-6, that is obviously true, because since 1941 when I was born, many Jews have been able to immigrate to Palestine and then to the new State of Israel. (But you should read the page titled The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, which discusses Israel’s iniquity, because it will not be pardoned until she acknowledges her offenses and makes amends.)
If you also read the pages titled Prophecies Re: The "One To Come," Martyrdom of Jesus, Virgin Birth Story, Plant of Renown, Christians Divided, and Author's Personal Note, you will get a more full picture of what I’m saying, and you will better understand who and what I am. For I am nobody, in one sense, and yet I serve the One who is Every One. You and I and God are One, and as you do unto others, so you do unto me, and unto your very Self.
